Whispering Pines in the Mountains uses Song Dynasty painter Li Tang’s landscape as a reference. The original work, like many other Chinese landscapes, delineates ancient ink artists’ appreciation of the nature. Yang’s interpretation redefines the landscape with documentary photography of a post-modern and artificial world.
